Socket Weld Spacer Rings & Alignment Shims
Socket weld spacer rings set the expansion gap between pipe and socket without measuring or scribing every joint; alignment shims do the same for butt joints, plate and flanges. We supply three Aquasol options: SoluGap water-soluble socket weld rings, SteelSpace 316L stainless spacer rings and SoluShim water-soluble alignment sticks.

Frequently asked questions
Why leave a gap in a socket weld?
A gap before the pipe bottoms out in the socket gives room for expansion as the weld heats and cools. Most piping codes specify it; follow your governing code and welding procedure.
Water-soluble or stainless spacer ring?
Choose SoluGap when the line will be flushed and you don't want a metal insert left behind. Choose SteelSpace when a permanent stainless ring is acceptable and there's no flushing step.
